We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Jamie Bovay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Jamie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success has been trying to do everything basically completely the opposite of every other rehab provider. We saw what was happening with rehab and saw people who could have recovered from pain or injury, but didn’t because they couldn’t get the quantity or quality of care from their provider. When they were not able to get rid of their pain many of these same people ended up with needless surgeries, injections, or are on pain meds. Many others now just avoid the things they need or love to do because of pain. When other providers started to change their models and are now seeing more and more patients and having techs or aides work the the patients the quality of care started to decrease. First we figured out how we could get free information into peoples hands about their pain/problems so they had good information and could make the best decision about their health. Then we figured out how we could give more time with patients which allows us to provide the highest possible quality care. As we are able to give more time and really listen to our patients we can deliver results when no one else can. Unfortunately most of our patients have tried rehab unsuccessfully somewhere else. Being able to really spend quality time with people will mean the difference in someone getting better and loving their experience compared to always wondering if there is something out there that can help them.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I hated the way physical therapy clinics were being run and physical therapy was being delivered. Physical therapy is amazing at helping people if the right quality of care is given. I saw too many people who were not getting the right quality of care. This led them to be frustrated with the whole experience. After we flipped the script and figured out how to give extended time of high quality one on one care with a doctor of physical therapy we tackled the whole experience. We have tailored an experience from the first moment someone finds us, to the first phone call, to the first visit, and all the way through the patient’s plan of care that has people loving us and now referring all of their friends. This wasn’t really easy or simple, but now that we have it I’m very proud of it and we can tell our patients love it as well by all of our 5 star reviews. This love of the experience is basically what has helped us grow. Most of our growth has come by word of mouth as our patients mention their experience with us and what they can now do that they were previously missing out on. Along the way I’ve discovered everything in the business is really about our patients and clients. If it’s not designed to help them or make them smile then it isn’t getting put into our business. What I want everyone to know is that just because you have tried rehab somewhere else and not found results doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy results when you find a company (ours or others) that really puts you and your needs first. Don’t give up on yourself. Help is out there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them to El Five for the food and the views, take them to a Rockies Game, Red Rocks, a local brewery based off of their favorite beers, to see the murals in RiNo, and for a hike somewhere in the mountains. If it was wintertime a day of snowboarding/skiing would definitely be in the mix.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have been very lucky to have support from the athletic and active communities in Denver like e3 Fitness, CrossFit Wynkoop, Pearl St. Fitness, Tough Mudder Bootcamp, Taylor Pilates and Fitness, 5280 Wellness Boost, and many more. We have been hosted in gyms, CrossFit boxes, studios, and health festivals for seminars like our “Hips Don’t Lie” seminar that has helped people to figure out why they have hip pain/stiffness and what they can do to fix it. With our partners’ support we were able to get in front of people we could help and that has allowed us to grow. I owe a big shoutout to all of my patients who supported and bought my book: Adding Insight To Injury-The Ultimate Injury Recovery Guide To Help You Reclaim The Life You Love. Their early support and reviews helped to propel the book into the best seller category. More recently we have had several interviews with leaders in the health, wellness, and fitness space on our “Fit and Healthy Denver” podcast and the inside information they have given us has led to an increase in followers and us being able to disseminate information to help people live healthier more active lives.
