We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Building a community and networking

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a running coach since 2018; first working for myself, then joining a team in 2019, then back to working for myself at the end of 2022. I work with 30-40 athletes at a time, helping them develop confidence, strength, and skill to meet their goals. In 2023, I was able to hire another coach, who also keeps a full roster.
Along with this, I have been freelance writing since 2020, originally with a focus on health and endurance sports, but I have moved into working part time as an editor and writer for a local news magazine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live a little west of Denver (Louisville) so we would start with a hike or easy trail run in South Boulder (likely Dowdy Draw) then go to brunch at Huckleberry. If it were a Saturday, we would walk along the Farmer’s Market and listen to some music. Then, hope on bikes with the the kids and ride down to Stem Acreage where we could have some cider while the kids play on the playground overlooking the peaks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My community of moms: I was part of a coworking/ childcare space where I developed connections, support, and love from other working parents.
