What They Know and We Don’t

We asked insiders and experts from various industries to tell us something they think outsiders are unaware of and we’ve shared a few of those responses below.
Similar to most things these days, the music business is a grind and what you put into it is definitely what you will get out of it. Music “outsiders” are probably unaware of the amount of time, energy and effort musicians put into the smallest details so that songs and shows come across as natural and seamless. Those details are what can make and break a band. Writing a song is like having several cooks in a kitchen and everyone has the same ingredients, but a different idea of the outcome or final dish. However, the music industry is constantly evolving and there are new platforms that emerge at every turn. It is fun and challenging to find the next outlet or the next ground to cover. Read more>>
One thing people outside of the industry are unaware of is that so many people and companies want to offer you “Exposure” for your work. As more pet parents are home with their furry friends, they notice issues earlier and more often. Which again is one of those “good/bad” types of scenarios. Read more>>
We wear alllll the hats🎩. As independent musicians, we truly are on our own. We aren’t working with a label to support our efforts, and have built this business as a team of two until now. We do it all – email venues, book shows, create marketing materials, design, order, & sell our own merch, craft & edit our website, reach out for connections with brands and other bands, build community, write our own songs, and keep everything afloat. That being said, it’s been incredible to recently have the ability to hire our talented friends to support the growth and brand development of LVDY. And we’re inspired to write songs for them too. 😉 Another interesting peek into the music industry that we’re not sure people are aware of how is the industry has shifted and changed around compensation, or lack there of. People used sell CD’s and vinyls, play live shows, and have a variety of ways to make money. Read more>>
