We asked some of the city’s leading artists and creatives to tell us about how they decided to pursue an artistic or creative career. We’ve shared some highlights below.

Nicole Kelln | Artist

I decided to pursue an artistic career because art has always been my passion. From a young age, I was naturally drawn to anything creative and found a deep sense of joy in the artistic process. Creating art helps me feel calm and centered, and it has supported me through both challenging times and my biggest celebrations. Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked as an elementary school art teacher, where I aimed to inspire my students and nurture their creativity in a positive environment. Thanks to her, I grew to have a love for the arts! Read more>>

Mallison White | Artist & Business Owner

Artistic expression has always been second nature to me. From a very young age, whether it was simple arts and crafts, rearranging my bedrooms, or going above and beyond in decorating for events, I constantly found myself seeking creative avenues. While not everyone has that artistic calling, many people simply lack the time and energy in their busy lives. It wasn’t until my early adulthood that I realized I could actually turn my artistic passion into a career. In establishing my business, Starving Artist by MallisonSue, I have been very fortunate to connect with many amazing people whom I now get to share my artistic visions with in all things interior design, organization, painting, holiday and seasonal decor, floral arrangements, and event prep.
